What If I Want to Buy the Product at a Different Retailer Than What’s Listed in the Campaign?

Edited

Important/TLDR: Purchasing the product from a retailer that is not listed in the campaign will make you ineligible to receive the remainder of your perk, even if it is the correct product. This includes situations where the product is cheaper, closer to home, or more convenient to purchase elsewhere.

When participating in a campaign, it’s important to purchase the product from one of the retailers specifically listed in the campaign requirements.

Unfortunately, we cannot approve purchases made at retailers that are not included in the campaign, even if:

  • You prefer a different retailer.

  • The retailer carries the same product.

  • You mentioned your preferred retailer in your application or pitch.

  • You were selected for the campaign after sharing that preference.

If you choose to participate in the campaign, you’ll be expected to shop at one of the approved retailers listed in the campaign details in order to qualify for campaign completion and receive the remainder of your perk.

What If I Can’t Find the Product at the Listed Retailer?

If you’ve visited one of the approved retailers and are unable to find the product, please contact us at help@hummingbirds.com before making a purchase elsewhere.

Our team can help determine whether there are any campaign-specific options available to you.

Can I Suggest Other Retailers?

Absolutely!

We love hearing feedback from our Birds. If there’s a retailer you’d prefer to shop at, let us know. While we can’t guarantee future campaigns will include that retailer, we regularly share creator feedback with brands and retailers when discussing future opportunities.

The more feedback we receive, the more information we can provide to brands about where our community prefers to shop.

Why Do Brands Require Specific Retailers?

Many campaigns are designed around a brand’s relationship with a specific retailer or group of retailers.

Brands often invest in campaigns to:

  • Drive awareness that their product is available at a particular retailer.

  • Encourage shoppers to visit specific stores.

  • Support new product launches at a retailer.

  • Increase product visibility and sales performance within a retailer.

  • Strengthen relationships with retail partners.

Success at a retailer can help a brand earn additional shelf space, better placement within stores, expanded distribution, or opportunities to launch in new retailers in the future.

Because of this, the retailer requirement is often one of the most important goals of the campaign and cannot be substituted.

What If I Don’t Like to Shop at That Retailer?

That’s completely okay!

Not every campaign will be the right fit for every Bird. If a campaign requires shopping at a retailer you don’t normally visit or prefer not to shop at, we recommend waiting for another opportunity with that brand or a different campaign that better fits your shopping preferences.

Many brands run campaigns with different retailers throughout the year, so another opportunity may be a better fit for you in the future.
