Why Am I Not Being Selected for the Hummingbirds HQ First Campaign?
The Hummingbirds HQ First Campaign ("Your First Step for Campaigns at Hummingbirds") is designed to help creators who are ready for paid brand campaigns learn how campaigns work on the Hummingbirds platform before participating in brand opportunities.
Because of that, this campaign is not automatically a fit for every new creator who joins the platform.
Instead, we review accounts to determine whether they currently meet the benchmarks brands typically look for when selecting creators. If your account doesn’t yet meet those benchmarks, you may not be selected for the Hummingbirds HQ First Campaign at this time.
The good news? Many creators continue growing their accounts and become eligible later!
What Do We Need to See Before Selecting a Creator?
At Least 50 Followers
Brand campaigns require creators to have at least 50 followers.
If you’re still building your audience, we encourage you to continue creating and check back once you’ve reached this milestone.
Recent Activity
We generally need to see that you’ve posted within the last 3-6 months.
Brands want to work with active creators, and recent content helps us understand your current style and interests.
Experience Creating Reels
Most Hummingbirds campaigns require Reel content.
You don’t need to post Reels exclusively, but we do need to see that you’re comfortable creating video content and have experience posting Reels.
At Least 20 Posts on Your Profile
We typically need to see at least 20 visible posts on your account.
Having enough content allows us to understand your content style, interests, and the type of content you enjoy creating.
Clear, High-Quality Content
We look for content that is easy to view and understand.
Some examples of things that can make an account less likely to be selected include:
Poor lighting
Blurry photos or videos
Low-quality or lagging video
Content that appears rushed or difficult to follow
You don’t need professional equipment, but we do need to see that you’re creating content brands would feel comfortable partnering with.
Signs of Audience Engagement
You do not need a large following or viral content to participate in Hummingbirds campaigns.
However, we do generally need to see that people are engaging with your content through likes, comments, shares, or other interactions.
If most posts receive little to no engagement, it may indicate that your account isn’t quite ready for brand partnerships yet.
Authentic, Thoughtful Content
We welcome many different types of creators, including UGC creators.
What matters most is the quality of the content you’re creating.
For example, accounts that primarily consist of quick product photos, packaging shots, or low-effort sponsored content may be less likely to qualify than accounts that demonstrate creativity, storytelling, product usage, or genuine recommendations.
Authentic Audiences
Brands want to work with creators who have authentic audiences.
Accounts that appear to have purchased followers, engagement, or other artificial growth methods are generally not eligible for brand campaigns.
Brand-Friendly Content
Many brands have requirements around the types of creators they work with.
Accounts that primarily feature explicit, adult, or highly controversial content may not be a fit for many brand campaigns and therefore may not qualify for the Hummingbirds HQ First Campaign.
Can I Become Eligible Later?
Absolutely.
Not being selected today doesn’t mean you won’t be selected in the future.
Many creators become eligible after growing their audience, posting more consistently, creating additional Reels, improving content quality, or building stronger engagement with their community.
If you’re working toward the benchmarks above, we encourage you to continue creating and check back in the future.
Other Ways to Participate
Even if you’re not currently eligible for the Hummingbirds HQ First Campaign, you’re still welcome in the Hummingbirds community.
You can participate in Community Campaigns and continue building your profile while you grow.
You may also see Hummingbirds Offers (currently in Beta) become available in your area. Offers allow you to earn rewards by purchasing eligible products and uploading your receipt - no social media posting required!
Offers are currently being rolled out market-by-market, so availability varies by location.
