Why Was My Receipt Denied?
If your receipt was denied or you see the message "redemption failure" it means our team reviewed the information provided and was unable to verify that the purchase qualified for the Offer.
We understand this can be frustrating, especially if you believed your purchase met all of the requirements.
Below are the most common reasons a receipt may be denied.
You Purchased the Wrong Product
Offers apply to specific products.
Even if the product is from the correct Brand, purchases may not qualify if:
The size is different
The flavor is different
The variety is different
The product is a different version than the one listed in the Offer
Before purchasing, always review the Offer details carefully to ensure you're purchasing the correct product.
You Purchased from a Non-Eligible Retailer
Each Offer lists the retailers where purchases qualify for redemption.
If the product was purchased from a retailer that was not listed as an Eligible Retailer for that Offer, the receipt cannot be approved.
Even if the product itself is correct, purchases made outside of the approved retailer list do not qualify.
The Purchase Was Outside the Offer Window
Offers are only valid during the dates specified on the Offer.
If the purchase date shown on the receipt falls outside the Offer window, the redemption may be denied.
The purchase date on the receipt is used to determine eligibility.
The Product Was Purchased Online
At launch, Offers are only eligible for in-store purchases made at an Eligible Retailer.
Purchases made through:
Online ordering
Delivery services
Curbside pickup
Retailer app purchases that generate digital receipts
are not currently eligible for Offer redemption.
Offers require a physical receipt from an in-store purchase.
We know this can be disappointing, and we’re exploring ways to support additional purchase methods in the future. For now, however, digital receipts and online purchases cannot be approved.
The Receipt Could Not Be Verified
In some cases, our team may be unable to verify the required information from the receipt.
This can happen if:
The receipt is incomplete
The receipt is difficult to read
Required purchase details cannot be verified
The receipt image does not clearly show the necessary information
The Receipt Was Previously Used or Flagged for Review
To protect the integrity of Offers for all Hummingbirds, receipts may be denied if they appear to have already been used or if unusual activity is detected during review.
What If I Think My Receipt Was Denied by Mistake?
If you believe your receipt should have been approved, you can submit an appeal for additional review.

The receipt in question
A detailed explanation of why you believe the receipt should be approved
Any additional information that may help our team review your case
Providing complete information helps us review appeals as quickly as possible.
Tips to Avoid Future Denials
Before purchasing a product, we recommend:
Confirming the Offer is still active
Verifying you're purchasing the correct product
Confirming the retailer is listed as an Eligible Retailer
Saving the Offer before making your purchase
When uploading your receipt:
Use a clear photo of the entire receipt
Make sure the retailer name is visible
Make sure the purchase date is visible
Ensure all line items can be read
Taking a few extra moments to review these details can help prevent issues during the redemption process.
