Why Is My Receipt Pending Review?

If your receipt is marked as Pending Review, don't worry - this is a normal part of the Offers redemption process.

Some receipts can be approved automatically, while others require additional processing before a final decision can be made.

If your receipt is marked as Pending, it simply means we’re still working on it and you’ll receive an update once a decision has been reached.

Being placed into review does not mean your receipt was denied or that you've done anything wrong.

Why Did My Receipt Go Into Review?

There are a few reasons a receipt may require additional review.

The most common reasons include:

  • The retailer name couldn't be verified

  • The purchase date couldn't be verified

  • The receipt image was difficult to read

  • The product information couldn't be clearly identified

  • Additional verification is needed before approval

In many cases, the issue is simply that the receipt image wasn't clear enough for the system to confidently verify the purchase.

Do I Need to Do Anything?

Maybe.

Depending on why your receipt couldn't be approved immediately, one of two things may happen:

Your Receipt Needs Attention

If we're missing information needed to verify your receipt, you'll be asked to take action.

Common examples include:

  • Missing retailer information

  • Missing purchase date

  • Receipt images that are difficult to read

  • Missing or unreadable product details

If action is required, you'll see a notification within Hummingbirds with instructions on what needs to be corrected before resubmitting your receipt.

Your Receipt Is Pending Review

In some cases, additional processing is required before a final decision can be made on a receipt.

If your receipt remains in a Pending status, no action is needed from you at this time. We’ll continue processing your submission and update you within 3 business days once a decision has been made.

How Long Does Processing Take?

Most receipt decisions are completed within 3 business days.

During periods of high volume, processing may occasionally take a little longer.

Will My Receipt Be Automatically Rejected?

No.

A Pending status does not mean your receipt is being rejected.

It simply means we’re still processing your submission and haven’t reached a final decision yet.

Once processing is complete, you’ll receive an update letting you know the outcome.

What Happens After Review?

After review, one of three things will happen:

Your Receipt Is Approved

If your receipt is approved, your cash back will be added to your Offers Wallet.

We Need More Information

If we're unable to verify part of your receipt, you may be asked to provide additional information or upload the receipt again.

Your Receipt Is Denied

If your receipt cannot be approved, we will alert you and provide the common reasons this happens.

If you believe the decision was made in error, you'll have the opportunity to submit an appeal for additional review.

Please note, you should only submit an appeal if your receipt has been denied and the platform will no longer allow you to re-upload.

Tips for Faster Approval

To help avoid delays:

  • Upload a clear photo of your physical receipt

  • Make sure the entire receipt is visible

  • Ensure the retailer name can be read

  • Ensure the purchase date is visible

  • Avoid blurry, cropped, or partially covered receipts

  • Use a plain background when photographing your receipt
