Can I Participate in a Campaign and an Offer for the Same Product?
Absolutely! But there are a few things to note when it comes to the content of your Campaign when you complete both an Offer and a Campaign at the same time - read on for more!
From time to time, you may see a Brand running both a Campaign and an Offer at the same time. When this happens, you're welcome to participate in both opportunities.
As a reminder, Campaigns and Offers work differently:
Campaigns require you to express interest, be selected, and confirm your participation before you can take part.
Offers are open to any eligible Hummingbird and do not require selection or approval. As long as the Offer is active, anyone can save it and redeem it.
Can I Share the Offer in My Campaign Content?
Sometimes.
The answer depends on whether the Campaign and Offer are focused on the same product.
If the Campaign and Offer Are for the Same Product
If a Brand is running both a Campaign and an Offer for the exact same product, you're generally welcome to mention the Offer in your Campaign content unless the Campaign Brief says otherwise.
In some cases, Brands intentionally run Campaigns and Offers for the same product at the same time because they want you to share about the Offer in your Campaign content! This allows them to both generate content and encourage more people to discover and try that product.
As always, if the Campaign Brief includes specific instructions, those instructions take priority.
If the Campaign and Offer Are for Different Products
Some Brands may have multiple products available on Hummingbirds at the same time.
For example, a Brand may be:
Running a Campaign for Product A
Running an Offer for Product B
Even though both opportunities are from the same Brand, they are focused on different products.
If the Offer is for a different product than the one featured in your Campaign, please do not promote that Offer within your Campaign content unless the Campaign Brief specifically tells you to do so. This includes different flavors or variants of the same product.
Why Does This Matter?
Brands use Hummingbirds for different goals.
Sometimes a Brand is primarily looking for content that highlights a specific product and can be reshared across their marketing channels.
Other times, a Brand is focused on driving product trial through an Offer.
And sometimes they're doing both at the same time for the same product.
Because of this, it's important that Campaign content stays focused on the product outlined in the Campaign Brief.
When in Doubt, Follow the Campaign Brief
The Campaign Brief is always the source of truth.
If there are specific instructions about whether an Offer should or should not be included in your content, those instructions will be outlined in the Campaign Brief.
When no additional guidance is provided, focus your Campaign content on the product featured in the Campaign & skip mentioning the offer.
