About Campaign Content: Grid Posts, Reels, and Stories
Creating Content for Hummingbirds Campaigns
When you participate in Hummingbird campaigns, you will be required to create and post an Instagram Post (either a Reel or Grid Post) and Instagram Stories.
Types of Content
Grid Posts
Grid posts are standard Instagram posts that appear on your profile grid and in your feed. These can be single photos or carousels with multiple images. When creating grid posts, ensure you showcase the product or service effectively while maintaining authenticity in your content.
Reels
Reels are short, entertaining videos that can be shared on Instagram. They can be up to 90 seconds long and can include audio, effects, and other creative elements. Successful Reels often include engaging elements like product demonstrations, versatility showcases, and personal reviews with on-camera moments that highlight your genuine experience. Some campaigns may specifically require Reels as the content format.
Stories
Instagram Stories are temporary posts that disappear after 24 hours. They can include photos, videos, text, and other creative elements. Stories must feature unique content different from your grid posts or carousels to maintain fresh and engaging content for your audience.
Creating and Uploading Content
When accepting a Hummingbirds campaign, make sure to review the content requirements carefully. Some campaigns may require a specific type of content, such as a Reel or a photo carousel, while others may allow you to choose. Remember that each content post can only be associated with one campaign at a time.
Uploading Grid Posts and Reels
Create your grid post or Reel on Instagram, following any specific guidelines or requirements provided by the campaign. Ensure you allocate sufficient time to prepare and review your content before posting.
Include the necessary tags and hashtags in the post caption, such as @hummingbirdshq, @brandname, #partnership, and #louisvillehummingbirds. Make sure to mention the company name in your post content and include their official social media handle to properly credit the brand.
Once your post is live, you must upload it to the Hummingbirds platform to complete the campaign requirements. Simply posting on Instagram is not sufficient.
Content Posting Requirements
Post content directly on Instagram rather than sharing from other platforms.
Avoid using content with TikTok watermarks or other platform identifiers.
Ensure your content is original and platform-specific.
Avoid using copyrighted audio in your content unless specifically permitted.
Some campaigns may have specific requirements like, including product packaging within the first 3 seconds, incorporating key talking points early, showcasing the product outside packaging, or maintaining authentic presentation.
Uploading Stories
Create your Instagram Story content, following the specific guidelines or requirements provided by the campaign. Your Story content must be unique and different from your in-feed content - do not reuse the same photos or videos from your grid posts or carousels.
While the Story is live, tap the 'Send' button at the bottom of the screen to copy the Story's URL. From there, another screen will appear and then click "Copy Link". That is the URL you can include when uploading campaign content.
Add the Story URL to the Hummingbirds platform within the 24-hour window before the Story expires. If you miss this window, you can submit a review request to have the campaign approved without penalizing your completion rate.
Cross-Platform Posting
While Instagram is the primary platform for campaign requirements, you may also post content on other social media platforms like TikTok. If you choose to do so, provide the link to that content when submitting your campaign materials. This allows the brand to review and potentially share your cross-platform content.
Scheduling Content
You can adjust the timing of your content posts to optimize visibility and engagement. Most platforms allow you to schedule posts in advance or modify the posting time. When preparing your content, look for scheduling options that let you select the exact date and time you want your post to go live.
Handling Shipping Delays
If your content timing is affected by shipping delays, consider adapting your creative concept to fit the new timeline. Look for alternative angles or themes that remain true to the product's essence while accommodating the changed circumstances. For example, if a Valentine's Day-specific post is no longer possible, pivot to a related concept like a 'date night' theme that still highlights the product's value and appeal.
Campaign Requirements
If you accept a Hummingbirds campaign that you can no longer complete due to an emergency, you can request to be removed from the campaign by emailing help@hummingbirds.com as soon as possible. You will be asked to return the unused gift card or perk. That way you can accept different campaigns in the future.
To ensure your content is properly submitted and does not negatively impact your campaign completion rate, always upload your posts and stories directly through the Hummingbirds platform interface within the campaign timeframe. Remember to allocate sufficient time to prepare and review your content before posting to maintain quality standards. If you need more time or encounter any difficulties with content creation, communicate with your campaign team promptly to discuss alternative solutions.
