How to Participate in a New Bird Campaign

The Hummingbirds New Bird Campaign is an exciting opportunity for new birds to showcase their favorite local businesses or products on Instagram and a good starting point for participating in Hummingbirds campaigns. We give you a gift card to talk about ANY local place or thing you love. It could be a local coffee shop or gym, your favorite hairstylist, the food truck you always stop by or even a product you love grabbing locally.

Seriously, it's that simple. Once you complete it, you'll be able to join Hummingbirds' online community known as The Charm with 1000+ other local creators!

Getting Started

To sign up and create a profile on the Hummingbirds platform, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the Hummingbirds website at https://app.thehummingbirds.co/users/check_location.

  2. Click on the link to create your profile.

  3. Fill out the required information to set up your account.

  4. Once your profile is created, look for an option to opt in to the "New Bird" campaign. This will initiate your onboarding process.

  5. After opting in, follow any additional prompts or instructions provided to complete your profile setup.

Once your account is set up, follow these steps to express interest in your first campaign:

  1. Log in to your account here.

  2. Connect your social media accounts to the platform.

  3. View all available campaigns in your area on the campaign dashboard under 'Browse and Express Interest'.

  4. Click on the New Bird campaign to view its details.

  5. To participate, click the blue 'Express Interest' button at the top.

  6. A prompt will ask you to share why you'd be a great fit. This is your 'Bird Blurb' or pitch. This is optional but recommended!

  7. After submitting, the campaign moves to your 'Expressed Interest' section until you're selected or the selection window closes.

Campaign Requirements

Once selected for the New Bird campaign, you'll need to complete the following:

  • Confirm your spot

  • We'll send you a digital gift card to post about any local business you love

  • Follow the campaign guidelines (Share Instagram in-feed post [Reel or carousel] AND Stories related to the business or product)

  • Include the specified tags and hashtags in your Post and Stories. Make sure to include both @hummingbirdshq and @stlhummingbirds tags in the caption text, not just as tags on the post itself.

Uploading Content

After creating the required content and posting it to Instagram, you'll need to upload it to the Hummingbirds platform.

  1. Login to your Hummingbirds account.

  2. Navigate to "Campaigns" in the header and then click on "Create Great Content".

  3. Click on the New Bird campaign.

  4. Review the "Post Requirement" section of the campaign and make sure the content you're creating matches those requirements. Tip: Make sure to include the necessary hashtags & business tags in the post caption (not tagged on the photo or Reel). They should be clear of any punctuation or emojis.

  5. Navigate to the Campaign on the Hummingbirds platform. Hit "Upload Content" Tip: upload within 24 hours of posting while the Instagram Story is still live.

  6. If you see the green check marks above the blue "Upload Content" button, you're good to go! These green checkmarks indicate successful submission.

Note: Your content may not immediately appear in your Campaign History, as this typically populates at the end of the campaign period. If you encounter any issues, double-check that all campaign requirements are met, particularly the placement of the brand tags in the caption.
