How to refer new hummingbirds

Edited

Our Hummingbirds referral program allows current birds to recruit other local-loving people who are active on social media and are natural champions of their community. You can refer hummingbirds in any of the active cities we're in.

Get started

When you sign in to your account, click on 'Referrals' in the menu or at the top of the Campaigns page. This will take you to a landing page where you can generate a personalized link and text it to your referral, or copy your general referral link. When your referral clicks on your link, it will take them to a signup page, and if they sign up, it will be recorded in your account.

Alternatively, you can find your referral link on the platform's home page. Look for the menu tabs at the top right-hand side of the screen, where you'll see a 'Referral' tab positioned between the 'Campaigns' and 'FAQ' tabs. Click on this 'Referral' tab to access your unique referral link.

Why Should You Refer Other Hummingbirds?

Did you know that over 90% of people prefer recommendations from friends and family over any other form of advertising?

Local, everyday people can help drive the success of local communities, simply by sharing experiences on social media. It's no surprise that brands big and small want to work with local people (like you!) to help create buzz and awareness for their businesses.

When you refer a hummingbird to sign up, you're helping fulfill our mission as a company to help local communities thrive. Just think, when you post about a new restaurant in your neighborhood and three of your friends go because of your latest Instagram post, you're helping that business succeed. Now imagine all of your referrals doing the same thing, bringing attention to brands that make our cities vibrant; that's why we exist!

Who Makes a Great Hummingbird?

Hummingbirds are social media enthusiasts that usually have between 500-5,000 followers on Instagram, a majority of whom also live in their area. You'll often find them sipping a latte at a small cafe, taking a walk at a local park, or browsing at an independently-owned bookstore. Unlike traditional influencers, Hummingbirds focus on local experiences and offer peer-to-peer influence, making their impact more authentic and relatable.

Hummingbirds love supporting local businesses and find joy in sharing the great things about them! Their passion has attracted people on Instagram to follow along and take their recommendations seriously. In fact, many bird followers are actively engaged watching Reels, commenting on posts, and hearting stories.

Perhaps the most meaningful aspect of being a hummingbird is having a platform to amplify the local experiences and brands you love, knowing your voice can make a positive impact.

Ready to expand our community? You can find your personal referral link on the platform's home page. Look for the 'Referral' tab in the top menu, positioned between 'Campaigns' and 'FAQ'. Click on this tab to access your unique referral link, which you can share with friends who might enjoy participating in campaigns.
